With her mature figure, Barbie was one of the first “grown-up” dolls to hit the retail market.Handler wanted to create a toy that was different from the baby dolls that dominated little girls’ toy boxes. She wanted a doll that girls could project their future dreams upon and allowed for limitless clothing and career choices. Handler made sure Barbie had the body of a grown woman. “My own philosophy of Barbie,” Handler wrote in her autobiography,“was that through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman had choices.”There’s even a Barbie for cancer patients — Brave Barbie — a partnership between Mattel and CureSearch that sends a bald (光头的) Barbie to families affected by cancer. “Gifting my daughter a Barbie who suffered from cancer was tremendous,” Michelle, a cancer survivor’s mother said, “We would play with that Barbie together and I’d heartbreakingly watch her pretend to take the doll to the hospital for chemo (化疗), or place its long wig on top of its head and tell the doll ‘ It’s time to be beautiful again.’ ”Bald Barbie was super brave and went on awesome adventures after chemo. Sometimes she felt sick and needed to sleep, but would feel much better after a rest. Bald Barbie always beat the cancer and went on to live a long and happy life with her family. That Barbie became so much more than a plastic doll—she was a means of communication and a coping mechanism during an extremely distressing time for little families. Why did Handler create Barbie? To make a hit in the retail market.B. To appeal to girls with her diverse outfits.C. To do a project on women’s career choices.D. To inspire girls to make choices as they wish.22. How might Michelle feel when watching her daughter with Brave Barbie?A. Sad yet comforted.B. Envious yet proud.C. Overwhelmed and ashamed.D. Heartbroken and regretful.23. Where is the text probably taken from?A. A medical journal.B. A charity brochure.C. A financial report.D. A story collection.BWhen you think of Chinese food in the US, fried rice, or General Tso’s chicken may first come to your mind. But a new museum exhibition in New York City is trying to expand visitors’ palates (味蕾). It features stories of famous cooks like Martin Yan and home cooks whose food represents 18 different regional cooking styles of China.“I think it’s unfair to just classify Chinese cooking as one,” says Kian Lam Kho, an organizer of “Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Spicy: Stories of Chinese Food and Identity in America” at the Museum of Chinese in America. “Even with the same dish or same cuisine, every family has a different variation.” That’s why the organizers say if you want to taste the full range of Chinese cuisine in the US, you’ll need to go beyond restaurants and into home kitchens, which can play a central role in many immigrants’ lives.“The kitchen itself is kind of a comfort when you come to a new country. That’s the one place where you set up as your home base, and you cook things that you remember from your past,” explains Audra Ang, another organizer. One of the home cooks showcased in the exhibition is Ni Biying, 80, of Manhattan. She worked as a live-in babysitter for years before she could finally afford to rent a home with her own kitchen. These days, you can usually find her moving around her one-bedroom apartment as a sweet smell of vinegar and rice wine floats from her stove. For Ni, a small dinner for friends and family means preparing almost a dozen different dishes. She learned some of her techniques from her father, who made most of her family’s meals when she was a child. “I still miss the beef with stir-fried celery my father used to cook,” she says. And it’s the kind of comfort food that defines Chinese food for Ni.What is the new museum exhibition mainly about?Cuisine of different countries.B. Exploration of famous restaurants.C.History of Chinese immigration.D. Stories of Chinese food and cooks.25.Why does the kitchen play a key role in many immigrants’ lives?A.It provides a wealthy life.B. It brings a sense of belonging.C.It helps them to accept new cultures.D. It enables them to forget the past.26.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Cuisine Gains New VariationsB.Home Cooking Brings More to the TableC.Immigrants Seek Their Fortune in the USD. Chinese Restaurant Tells Immigrant TalesCLos Angeles native Randall Bartlett sat under the rooftop of a traditional Chinese scholar’s studio, occasionally turning a page of his book. The scene was in the reopened Liu Fang Yuan garden at the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens. For him, the garden brings to life the Chinese philosophies he learned from books.Phillip E. Bloom, director of the Center for East Asian Garden Studies, said the idea for Liu Fang Yuan goes back to the 1980s with the initial aim of creating a collection of Chinese plants, but after research, they realized plants alone were not sufficient to demonstrate the essence of a Chinese garden. Eventually, it was decided to imitate a garden on 16th and 17th century scholarly retreats(隐居处)in Suzhou. The decision was made partly due to the fame of Suzhou classical gardens, but also because similarities were found between the Huntington and Suzhou gardens. Bloom said that Henry Huntington, founder of the Huntington Library, was a successful US businessman who used his fortune to collect rare books, artworks and to create gardens. “Many Suzhou gardens were also created by rich people who tried to pursue a scholarly lifestyle,” he added. To preserve the character of the Suzhou gardens, the Huntington Library sought help from Suzhou, giving rise to collaboration between US and Chinese architects, contractors and designers. In all stages of construction, artisans (工匠) from Suzhou came to work on details of the venue. After three years of expansion from 2018 to 2020, Liu Fang Yuan reopened to the public with 4.6 hectares of new landscape, making it one of the largest classical-style Chinese gardens in the world. The additions include courtyards displaying penjing, a scholar’s studio, a pavilion(亭子) situated at the garden’s highest point, etc. Now, it is meaningful to see how people from local communities interact with the garden. “A lot of volunteers come to different lectures and exhibitions about Chinese culture that we hold regularly,” Bloom said. By exposing its visitors to arts and literature, Liu Fang yuan goes beyond international boundaries and bridges the cultural gaps between the two countries. What do we know about Liu Fang Yuan?It used to be a scholarly retreat in Suzhou. It was constructed by Suzhou artisans alone. It became the largest garden after being expanded. It promoted cultural exchanges between America and China. What is paragraph 3 mainly about? The introduction to the founder. The fame of Suzhou classical gardens. The features of a scholarly lifestyle. The reasons for modeling a Suzhou garden. What does the underlined word “collaboration” in paragraph 4 mean?negotiationB. cooperationC. inspirationD. contradictionWhy did Bloom mention local people’s interactions with the garden? To show its cultural significance. To detail its architectural features. To promote its diverse activities. To boost its international fame.第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Tips for Foreign Students in ChinaChina is a very popular destination for foreign students today. 31 At this point, the most popular choices for study are management and technical courses, though the interest in other disciplines is growing every minute. But Farhan was often playing with the village boys when he should have been studying. To help motivate him this year, their father had promised to buy him a bicycle if his grades improved.Aminah was sure that even this generous offer wouldn’t change her brother’s habits. But when Farhan started staying home and studying, everyone was surprised. At the end of the school year, Aminah received top marks as she always did. And, as usual, her parents gave her 100 rupees(卢比) as a reward. For the first time, Farhan got top marks too. True to his word, their father came home with a bicycle. It was well used, and much of the paint had been chipped(脱落) off. But to Farhan, it was the most beautiful bicycle in their country. Farhan’s friends cheered when they saw it. It was understood that something as precious as a bicycle would be shared with everyone.Well, almost everyone. After a few days of watching Farhan and the village boys learning to ride, Aminah and her friends grew bitter. They spent afternoons on the hill just north of the village, sitting in the shade of a mango tree and watching the lazy stream flow at the foot of the hill. They could hear the boys cheering and laughing on the other side of the hill.“Why doesn’t he let us ride, Aminah?” asked Fatima. Aminah shrugged(耸肩), trying to act as if she didn’t care.“He and the other boys just want the bicycle all for themselves!” replied Shehnaz. Sarah shook her head. “But Aminah is his sister! He should share with her.” An older sister commanded respect. As they talked, the boys’ screams grew closer. Aminah looked up and saw her brother on his bicycle at the top of the hill. “Look! I can do it!” Farhan yelled at the top of his lungs. He had finally gotten the hang of it. The boys cheered as he began to speed up.注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。Paragraph 1:Suddenly, Farhan lost control of the bicycle, heading in the direction of the girls, toward the stream.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2:Farhan looked at Aminah, then at his bicycle, then back at his sister.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________陕西省西安中学高2025届高二第二次综合评价英语参考答案第一部分 听力(共20小题;每小题0.5分,满分10分)1-5 BCAAC 6-10 CBACB 11-15 CABCA 16-20 BCCBC第二部分 阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)21-23 DAD 24-26 DBB 27-30 DDBA 31-35 EDABG第三部分 语言知识运用(共三节,满分40分)第一节 完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)36-40 BDACB 41-45 ADADC 46-50 ABCBD 第二节 单句填空 (共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)51. participants 52. adapted 53. owe 54. association 55. The most obvious advantages of taking the high-speed rail lie in its high security, fast speed as well as reasonable fare. Moreover, crossing China by this high-speed rail line will definitely make you excited. Along the way you can have a good view of the splendid natural scenery, ranging from the eye-catching watery towns to spectacular mountain peaks and forests, which will show you a poetic visual feast. With many cultural relics and different ethnic groups along the route, giving you more insight into the diverse culture of China is another highlight of the trip. I promise it’s a trip you will never forget. Wish you a pleasant journey in China! Yours, Li Hua(满分25分) Suddenly, Farhan lost control of the bicycle, heading in the direction of the girls, toward the stream. Realizing that the bike would probably knock into the girls and that he himself and the bike would end up in the stream, Farhan got increasingly nervous while shouting for help. He squeezed the brakes hard, but it didn’t work. Hearing Farhan’s cry for help, Aminah immediately knew what was happening. Without a second thought, she jumped to her feet and dashed towards the bike and held tightly the backseat of the bike, as a result of which the bike slowed down and finally came to a stop. Seeing her brother safe and sound and the bike still in good condition, Aminah heaved a sigh of relief. Farhan looked at Aminah, then at his bicycle, then back at his sister. It was her bravery and wisdom that saved him and his precious bicycle. A sense of gratitude took possession of him, which inspired him to share the bike with Aminah and her friends. The rest of the day witnessed the group of boys and girls riding the bike by turns, bursts of laughter echoing in the air all the way. Never before has Farhan been so delighted, as the precious bike not only encouraged him to achieve top grades, but also made him realize that sharing actually brought more happiness as well as broke down the barriers with his sister. 听力材料Text 1W: I have painted the doors, but I don’t think I can finish painting the ceiling. He had an unusual voice and he wanted to work in Disney’s cartoon films for children. When Walt Disney heard Nash’s voice, he said “Stop! That’s our duck!” The duck was the now famous Donald Duck, who first appeared in 1934 in the film The Wise Little Hen.Donald lived in an old houseboat and wore his sailor jacket and hat. Later that year he became a star after an eight-minute Mickey Mouse film. The audience liked him because he was lazy and greedy, and because he lost his temper very quickly. And they loved his voice when he became angry with Mickey’s eight nephews. Soon Donald was more popular than Mickey Mouse himself. In the 1930s,40s and 50s Donald and his friends Mickey, Goofy and Pluto made hundreds of Disney cartoons. He also made educational films about the place of the USA in the world, and safety in the home. Then in 1966 Donald Duck and his voice disappeared --- there were no more new cartoons. Clarence Nash passed away in February, 1985. But today’s children can still see the old cartoons on television and hear that famous voice.
