Words were what composed the questions we sought to uncover and the answers to those questions themselves. Words were everything. That belief changed. In an ordinary math class, my teacher posed a simple question: What's 0. 99 rounded to the nearest whole number? Easy. When rounded to the nearest whole number, 0. 99=1. Somehow, I thought even though 0. 99 is only 0. 01 away from 1, there's still a 0. 01 difference. That means even if two things are only a little different, they are still different, so doesn't that make them completely different? My teacher answered my question by presenting another equation(等式): 1= 0. 9, which could also be expressed as 1=0. 99999… repeating itself without ever ending. There was something mysterious but attractive about the equation. The left side was unchangeable, objective: it contained a number that ended. On the right was something endless, number repeating itself limitless times. Yet, somehow, these two opposed things were connected by an equal sign. Lying in bed, I thought about how much the equation paralleled our existence. The left side of the equation represents that sometimes life itself is so unchangeable and so clear. The concrete, whole number of the day when you were born and the day when you would die. But then there is that gap in between life and death. The right side means a time and space full of limitless possibilities, and endless opportunities into the open future. So that's what life is. Objective but imaginative. Unchangeable but limitless. Life is an equation with two sides that balances itself out. Still, we can't ever truly seem to put the perfect words to it. So possibly numbers can express ideas as equally well as words can. For now, let's leave it at that: 1= 0. 99999… and live a life like it. 24. What does the author emphasize about words in paragraph 1? A. Their wide variety. B. Their literary origins. C. Their different sounds. D. Their expressive power. 25. What made the author find the equation attractive? A. The repetition of a number. B. The difference between the two numbers. C. The question the teacher raised. D. The way two different numbers are equal. 26. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “paralleled” in paragraph 6? A. Measured. B. Mirrored. C. Composed. D. Influenced. 27. What is a suitable title for the text? A. The Perfect Equation. B. Numbers Build Equations. C. An Attractive Question. D. Words Outperform Numbers. CThe United Kingdom is hosting the AI Safety Summit, bringing politicians, computer scientists and big AI company leaders to a site chosen for its symbolism: Bletchley Park, the birthplace of computing and code- breaking(密码破译). During World War II, a group of mathematicians, chess masters and other experts gathered at the Victorian country house 72 kilometers northwest of London to start a secret war against Nazi Germany. Their goal was to break a set of constantly changing codes produced by Nazi Germany's Enigma machine. To do it, Bletchley Park's wartime scientists—building on work done by Polish code- breakers—developed Colossus, the first programmable digital computer. Some historians say cracking the code helped shorten the war by up to two years. “It has oversimpli fied its true contribution by describing Bletchley Park as a playground for Turing and other scientists. ” said historian Chris Smith, author of The Hidden History of Bletchley Park. “Although it fits into the romantic idea that a group of smart men with a bit of wool and some yards of wire can win the war. In fact, almost 10, 000 people worked at Bletchley Park during the war. Three quarters of them were women. It's basically a factory. . . Twenty- four hours a day, seven days a week. When peace came, the code- breakers returned to civilian life and promised to keep secret about their wartime work. It was not until the 1970s that the work at Bletchley Park became widely known in Britain. ”In 1994, the site opened as a museum, after local historians banded together to prevent it from being pulled down to build a supermarket. It was restored to its 1940s appearance, complete with old typewriters, phones and cups—including the one tied to a heater in Hut 8, where Turing led the Enigma team. 28. What can we learn about Colossus? A. It was invented by Nazi Germany. B. Polish code- breakers also made a contribution to it. C. It was designed to send secret messages. D. The project's goal was to produce the first computer. 29. What did Chris Smith most probably imply? A. Women's hard work was ignored. B. The secret should not be kept for so long. C. The computer ought to be more powerful. D. It is silly to say the machine shortened the war. 30. Why is the cup mentioned in the last paragraph? A. To highlight the government's support. B. To stress Turing's important role in the project. C. To show the perfect restoration of the site. D. To tell the difficulty in collecting the lost items. 31. What is the author's purpose in writing the text? A. To advocate women's equal rights with men. B. To advertise a newly restored computer museum. C. To show the significance of an important meeting. D. To add some background to the AI safety meeting. DLooking up at the sky during early spring, you may see groups of birds moving as they migrate (迁徙) north. But how do these creatures fly in such a cooperative and seemingly effortless fashion? “The answer lies in aerodynamics(空气动力学),” reports a team of scientists from New York University(NYU) in a newly published study. They also found that the impact of aerodynamics depends on the size of the flying group—benefiting small groups and disturbing large ones. To mimic(模仿) the flying patterns of birds in which they line up one directly behind the other, the researchers created mechanized(机械化的) wings. They were 3D- printed from plastic and driven by motors to move in water, which showed how air flows around bird wings and how they interact during flight. For smaller groups, the researchers discovered an effect by which each member gets help from the aerodynamics in holding its position relative to its neighbors. For larger groups, however, these flying interactions cause later members to be thrown out of position, causing a breakdown of the flying patterns due to crashes among members. The researchers then used mathematical modeling to better understand the underlying forces. It indicates that the interactions between neighbors are spring- like forces. However, these “springs” act in only one direction—a lead bird can apply force on its followers, but not the other way around. “The spring- like forces move the members back and forth and then travel down the group and increase in intensity, causing later members to crash together, explains Leif Ristroph, an associate professor at New York University. “This area of research is important since animals are known to take advantage of the flows to save on the energy or to reduce drag or resistance, ” explains Leif Ristroph. “ Our work may also have applications in transportation—like efficient speeding through air or water—and energy, such as more effectively harvesting power from wind or waves. ”32. What is the major focus of the NYU researchers' study on birds? A. The migration patterns of birds. B. The aerodynamic effects on bird groups. C. The benefits of smaller bird grouping. D. The flying routes in early spring. 33. How do flying interactions affect smaller groups of birds? A. They lead to a breakdown. B. They disturb the formation. C. They help each member in position. D. They cause crashes among members. 34. Why does the author mention “springs” in paragraph 4? A. To make a contrast. B. To present new evidence. C. To put forward a theory. D. To explain a principle. 35. According to Leif Ristroph, what might be a potential application of this research? A. Relieving public traffic jams. B. Improving harvest of solar energy. C. Changing migration routes of birds. D. Decreasing air resistance of planes. 第二节 七选五(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分 12. 5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。When we are faced with a crisis, or if we have an important decision to make, many of us fall into the trap of over- thinking. We may keep thinking about something constantly and too long. 36 How can we stop ourselves from over- thinking? Doing something to distract yourself is a good idea. You can find working with your hands is especially good. 37 Your brain simply doesn't have the resources to split itself into a third activity, for example over- thinking. 38 Studies have shown that when someone views something in excitement and anxiety, the brain is forced to become stuck in the present because all of your senses are completely engaged. You do not have time to focus on something different because your mind is focused on what is stimulating you right now. Constant wishing, hoping and praying do not give you any relief. They just keep you stuck in one place. But taking the smallest step off the crisis really matters. It will set things in motion, making you like a snowball. 39 The traps are things that cause your natural ability to react without realizing that there is a connect ion between the two. Thus, avoiding relevant traps is also a good idea. 40 For example, if one of your colleagues is so negative that she always drags you down, stop hanging out with her by having lunch alone at a nearby restaurant. A. Put simply, out of sight, out of mind. B. This mindset tends to ruin our day. C. Just as a saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. D. You are really getting your brain working for you. E. Try watching a suspenseful(悬疑的) movie. F. It involves your motor(动作的) skills as well as your thinking process. G. Thus, you will gradually move yourself out of the feeling. 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节 完形填空 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。For a little girl growing up in Colombia in the 1980s, a science career with NASA may have seemed like setting foot on a faraway planet. 41 , Diana Trujill has made it—she is a(n) 42 now, leading a 45- person team that's responsible for the robotic arm of the latest Mars rover. My first day there was a rush- driving to a new and unfamiliar clinic and getting used to the different rules and clinical environment. In my worry and anxiety, and feeling a little unfamiliar in the new environment, I removed my three rings: my wedding ring, a ring that belonged to my mother and one that was anniversary(周年纪念日) gift from my husband. I wrapped them in a tissue (纸巾) and placed them beside my computer. During my lunch break I noticed the wrinkled tissue and thought that it did not look very neat and dropped it into the rubbish bin. I went about my duties and my day went on well; I met new patients and felt that I had been productive and efficient. Driving home at the end of the day, just moments before I reached my house, I noticed that I was missing my rings. I felt the heat in my body rise, my cheeks burning red. I went inside and tried to calm down. I felt sick to my stomach and I had that sinking feeling in my heart. I spent an hour or so making calls, trying to follow the track of my rings. The first people I called were my manager and clinical leader and they gave me a few contact numbers for cleaners. I got in touch with a lady who managed the cleaning services for the clinic, and she informed me that the bins had already been collected. Heartbroken, I knew nothing could be done now. I had lost my wedding ring and one of my most treasured rings—my mother's wedding ring. Had it not been for my carelessness, all this would not have happened. With great sorrow and regret, I just sat there rooted in my chair, praying to God for my unforgivable guilt. 注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Paragraph 1: After two or so hours, I received a most amazing phone call. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: I decided to thank the wonderful person face to face. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________六安一中2025届高三年级第三次月考英语试卷参考答案1~5 BCBCB 6~10CBBBC 11~15 CACCA 16~20 CBCAB21. I feel honored to be here to give a speech on fitness and exercise. We students are heavily burdened with schoolwork, and thus can't spare sufficient time for regular physical exercise. However, exercise can help keep our bodies in good shape and reduce our stress. So I strongly recommend we fit exercise into our schedule, striking a balance between it and study. Busy as we are, we are supposed to put down our books to stretch our arms and legs now and then. In addition, we can do some jogging every day and go cycling in company with friends on weekends. Exercise will make a big difference to us, so never give up exercising. That's all. Thanks for your listening. Paragraph 1: After two or so hours, I received a most amazing phone call. It was a call from the dental clinic leader(照应原文所给首句1), saying an elderly cleaner in the rubbish center had accidentally found a wrinkled tissue with three rings inside and immediately returned them to the clinic(照应原文特定情节). Never before in my life had I been so overwhelmed with excitement that I was close to tears(照应原文情感细节). After a one- hour driving distance, I came rushing into the clinic, only to be told that the kind lady had already left. However, with the three treasured rings lying on my sweaty palms(照应原文高频词), I felt a surge of luck spreading through my mind, every cell in my body coming to alive again. More luckily, the clinical leader happened to know the very person's address as they used to be neighbors(照应原文所给首句 2). Paragraph 2: I decided to thank the wonderful person face to face. With a thankful gift in my hand, I wasted no time arriving at the wonderful person's home. Knocking at the door, I was greeted with a kind and gracious lady, who had just helped me find the most treasured rings in my life(照应原文高频词). After a brief introduction of myself, I expressed my over- whelming gratitude to her. Much to my surprise, she beamed a comforting smile and said it was nothing. I hugged her in arms tightly and uttered “thanks” from the bottom of my heart(照应原文结尾). Just at that moment, the previous worry and anxiety disappeared instantly and a strong feeling of warmth and gratitude was floating in my soul(照应原文情感细节). It suddenly hit me what I should do in my later life. After this experience, the new dental clinic was not un- familiar to me, but gave me numerous reasons to fall in love with it(照应原文首段和主题). 听力原文(Text 1)M: I went to the new shopping center yesterday. It's huge! w: Yes! 1 went there last week. I noticed it when donating some clothes to a charity shop near it. They've got the best bookstore I've ever seen! M: 1 heard they also have a whole floor for kids' stores! (Text 2)M: I can't believe the price of petrol has gone up again. W: I know! I've started biking to work to save money. M: That's smart. When I'm not working from home, I feel my job is just paying for my car. I'm gonna see if my neighbors want to carpool with me. (Text 3)W: Have you tried the new bakery across the street? M: No, but the baker is my neighbor Why, Anna? W: Well, I'm going to bring some treats into work tomorrow. They make the best strawberry pies, your favorite. I've got you sorted, but what about everyone else? M: Definitely get some cupcakes. They're always winners. (Text 4)W: I hear you are considering another animal. M: Yeah, as I've already got dogs and cats, I'm torn between another cat and a bird. I've always wanted a bird, but cats seem easier to manage. W: Well, that's quite a commitment. But it won't hurt to try something new. (Text 5)W: How's your guitar practice coming along? M: Challenging, but I'm enjoying it. How about you? W: I started learning singing skills. I entered the singing contest next month. M: Great! Maybe I can accompany you on the guitar. (Text 6)M: Alice, did you see the new workshop courses at the community center? They're offering a series of courses. W: Oh, what kind of things are they doing? M: They're offering multiple options on top of the usual fitness course, such as a six- week programming course and an eight- week creative writing course. W: Great! I'm interested in creative expression through written work. Are they beginning on September 15th as usual? M: No, they're giving the first class ten days later. And the deadline for registration is October 1st. (Text 7)M: That's a beautiful painting! Who's the artist? W: It's by Alana Moreau, an up- and- coming artist from France. She's known for her abstract landscapes. 1 came across her work at an art gallery. M: How does she create these effects? W: Alana uses a mix of oil paints and watercolors. She applies multiple layers of colors and then employs a cloth patting technique. I've read she's inspired by nature and emotions. M: It looks expensive . . . W: Actually, this is a copy! She sells original works, but they go over my budget. The copy is still remarkably breathtaking, though. (Text 8)M: Sally, I can't believe you finally left the company. What are your plans now? W: I'm thinking about selling handmade candles. M: Sounds like a great idea! In the market, the dealers sell plenty of candles, except for handmade ones. W: I'm planning to set up a website to promote them. I'll use eco- friendly and natural materials to stand out. M: Good plan. Maybe you can also offer tailor- made candles? That could attract more customers. W: That's exactly what I've been thinking. I can create special editions for global holidays or events. I'll need to research more on packaging, because my current system isn't the most advanced technologically. M: Don't forget about things like shipping and handling. Maybe start locally, then expand as you grow and maybe you'll be able to work with some global partners in the future. W: Yes, that's sensible. Using bigger companies when expanding seems like the way to go. (Text 9)W: Oh. I've finally finished grading all the papers! What a term! What are your plans for next term, Paul? M: You're right, Sarah. This term was tough. Those English essays of my students were a Shakespearean tragedy. Next term, I'm thinking about more hands- on activities. maybe some field trips. I think they will leave the students with a stronger impression than lectures. W: Sounds like a good strategy. I'm considering adding more technology into my math lessons. M: Wow, you have a talent for bringing fresh ideas to the table. Maybe you could even lead a tech initiative in educational methods. W: Now, that's an exciting thought! It's about exploring new ways to improve student performance. M: Definitely. It's about keeping the students engaged and making the subject matter more understandable. We should cooperate in some of these ideas, and see where it takes us. W: Agreed. Let's brainstorm and see how we can combine these concepts. (Text 10)M: Good afternoon, everyone, I'm John and I'm glad to be here today. I started playing golf about 18 years ago—when I was 12, though I didn't really take it seriously until four years later. My Dad was crazy about golf. He'd always watch the international competitions on TV and he'd ask me to watch them with him. Looking back, when I told my teachers that I wanted to become a professional golfer, they all tried to put me off. I wish they’d given me support. That wasn't particularly surprising, I suppose, especially a few years ago—everyone thought golf was just a game for the rich while my parents were just blue- collar workers. I think it's a little different today, but not much. For example, I think the government should do something for young people who play golf, like allowing them to hire good quality equipment at a reasonable price. Having said that, what really seems to be making a difference among younger people is the huge success of some young British players these days. I'm in this sport because I like it and I can make a reasonable income from it. It hasn't made me enormously wealthy, but it's given me huge enjoyment over the years.
